Description
Experience the classic, bold heat of restaurant-quality buffalo chicken right in your own kitchen. By using the air fryer, we achieve an incredibly crispy exterior while keeping the bite-sized chicken pieces perfectly juicy. This dish is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or as a standout crowd-pleasing appetizer, all while being lighter on oil than traditional frying methods.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup buffalo sauce (non-alcoholic)
1 tablespoon fresh garlic, minced
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.
In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with olive oil until lightly coated.
In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Add the dry spice mixture to the chicken and toss until every piece is evenly coated.
Place the chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
Cook for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even browning.
While the chicken cooks, whisk the buffalo sauce and minced garlic in a bowl.
Once the chicken is golden and crispy, remove from the air fryer.
Toss the hot chicken in the sauce bowl until thoroughly coated.
Serve immediately with a side of celery or your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
Ensure chicken pieces are uniform in size to promote even cooking. Do not crowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary. If you prefer extra crispiness, add an extra minute of cook time.
