Description
A hearty, one-pan meal that perfectly balances savory lean ground beef with tender, caramelized green cabbage. This nutritious, umami-rich dish utilizes high-heat searing to create a delicious texture contrast and deep flavor profile, making it a perfect, wholesome staple for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
1 lb Lean Ground Beef (90/10 or 95/5)
1 small head Green Cabbage, sliced into ribbons
1 Yellow Onion, diced
3 cloves Garlic, minced
3 tablespoons Low-sodium Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the lean ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon until browned and cooked through.
Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the ribboned cabbage to the skillet in batches if necessary, stirring until it begins to soften and caramelize.
Pour the soy sauce over the mixture and toss well to combine and coat the ingredients.
Continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is tender yet retains a slight bite.
Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving hot.
Notes
Ensure you slice the cabbage uniformly for even cooking. If you prefer extra heat, add a pinch of red chili flakes along with the garlic. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
