Description
Indulge in a luxurious, nutrient-dense breakfast that combines the comfort of warm oatmeal with the muscle-building benefits of high-protein ingredients. This recipe achieves a perfect pudding-like consistency by expertly balancing rolled oats, real banana for sweetness, and rich cocoa powder. It is an ideal high-performance meal, whether you are fueling up for a morning workout or looking for a wholesome start to your day that offers complex flavors without any chalky texture.
Ingredients
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1/2 ripe banana, mashed
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine the rolled oats, milk, salt, and cinnamon over medium heat.
Simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and reached a creamy consistency.
Remove the saucepan from the heat to prevent the protein powder from clumping.
In a small bowl, whisk the protein powder with a splash of warm water or milk to create a smooth paste, then stir it into the oatmeal.
Fold in the mashed banana and continue to stir until the mixture is uniform.
Transfer to a bowl and drizzle with the peanut butter before serving.
Notes
To ensure the protein powder does not clump, always temper it by mixing in a separate container with a little bit of liquid before adding it to the pot. If using gluten-free oats, ensure the packaging is certified. For extra crunch, you can top with cacao nibs or additional nuts.
