Description

Transform your morning with this nutrient-dense, high-protein oatmeal. By combining fiber-rich old-fashioned rolled oats with creamy natural peanut butter and your choice of protein powder, this dish delivers a velvety, custard-like consistency perfect for sustained energy. It is a simple, healthy, and delicious way to fuel your day, whether you are heading to the gym or starting a busy workday.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, or oat)
1 scoop vanilla whey or pea protein powder
1 tablespoon natural creamy peanut butter
Pinch of sea salt
Optional: fresh berries, chia seeds, or dark chocolate shavings for topping

Instructions

In a small saucepan, bring the milk and a pinch of salt to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
Add the rolled oats and reduce heat to low, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until the liquid is mostly absorbed and oats are tender.
In a separate small bowl, mix the protein powder with 2 tablespoons of water or milk to create a smooth paste to prevent clumping.
Remove the oatmeal from the heat and stir in the protein paste and peanut butter until fully incorporated.
If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of extra liquid to reach your desired consistency.
Transfer to a bowl and top with fresh berries, chia seeds, or dark chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

To avoid a chalky texture, always temper your protein powder by mixing it with a small amount of liquid into a paste before adding it to the hot oats. If using steel-cut oats, increase the cooking time to 20-25 minutes and add more liquid as needed. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, adding a splash of liquid when reheating.
